All About Hair Loss
Hair Loss – Hair loss is a common problem observed in men. It may be due to heredity or perhaps underlying medical conditions. When you leave extra hair in your comb or in the washroom, you may consider it as a hair loss symptom.
Hair Loss Signs and Symptoms
Alopecia is the medical term for hair loss. The most common type of Alopecia is termed as Pattern baldness. It is a permanent problem that affects approximately one-third of men and women. But the other types of hair loss problems are temporary. Alopecia areata is one such hair loss problem that not only affects the scalp but other parts of the body too. Now let’s take a note of the permanent hair loss types:
- Male-pattern baldness – Known as androgenetic alopecia, this type of hair loss begins very early in men as well as in the teens too. If you find that the hairline is gradually receding at the temples, and balding at the top portion of the head, you must immediately consult the doctor because the end result may be complete hair loss.
- Female-pattern baldness – Medically termed as androgenetic alopecia, this type of hair loss is observed in women when the hair starts thinning at the front, sides or the crown. In these cases, women usually experience complete baldness.

- Medications – There are many drugs used for treating gout, heart problems, arthritis and depression, and these conditions can cause hair loss in people. Birth control pills also lead to hair loss in women.
